Aussie Pins

Edit: I’ve uploaded the pins to Etsy, they are ACRYLIC not enamel. I’m not sure whether I’ll get them made up in enamel in the future. There are only 20 of each because they are a trial product. They are nice and light and are perfect for kids to pin to their pencil cases and bags. They have a black rubber clutch back.

IMG_0559Sweet and super cute kookaburra and kangaroo acrylic pins.

– Approx. length 35mm (approx. 1 1/2in)
– 2mm (thick) acrylic pin.
– Smooth surface.
– Single rubber clutch on the pin.

The pins are made by digitally printing the designs onto 2mm clear acrylic before laser cutting them to shape and adding a quality pin fixing on the reverse.

– The pin ships on a backing card with a cello cover.
– Sorry about the lousy photos but our new camera is rubbish! I wonder if I can return it.backing for pins

Friday Stuff.

Hi lovelies, how has your week been? It’s been a fairly unproductive week for Red Boots, but I’ve had some much needed personal down time and I’m starting to feel a whole lot better.

Our new business cards arrived this week and they look great. I’ve decided to also use them as backing cards for our pins. The photos aren’t great – why can’t I work out how to use this new camera!?? – but you get the idea.

We had a visitor to our backyard this week. This guy is a Pacific Baza or crested hawk. Isn’t he (or maybe he’s a she?) beautiful. Kelly snapped the photos. These guys used to visit a lot but they’ve been a bit scarce lately.

Amazon dot com has a few copies of Happy Quilts back in stock if you are chasing a copy. There are supposed to be more on the way but they have been slow showing up. I’m not sure how close we are to the end of the print run.

This months giveaway will include a reusable cup from the lovelies at KeepCup plus a pack of HeatnBond Lite and a pack of HeatnBond Fusible Interfacing from the fabulous folk at Thermoweb. You can find the details on how to enter on our giveaway page (in the menu). We have a cupboard full of KeepCups, most coffee shops accept them, and it takes all those one-use plastic cups out of the environment (no sponsorship, I pay for most of these prizes myself).

That’s about it from me tonight. I’m hoping to get some sewing done this weekend, in between dividing and re-potting the Zygocactus and close on 50 succulents that is! Have a fabulous weekend y’all, toni xx

Going Grizzly.

Happy Monday lovelies! I made great progress on the pugs this weekend, I should be finished the top by the end of the week. Then I’m planning on tackling the giraffe quilt.

We are still without an internet connection and I’m desperately saving what little is left of our data allowance on my cell phone. We can top up, but it’s hellishly expensive to do so.

Eeek! I just did some math. We pay $80 for 1000GB on our home plan, but it costs $10 for 1GB on the mobile phone. It would cost $10,000 to have the same amount of access on our mobile. Dear God, surely I’m mistaken!

Time to go all Camp Grizzly on their butts!

Don’t forget that our weekend specials end today. ‘Space Quest‘ is up for $5 and ‘Our House‘ is $4 (PDF only). You have a few hours to grab a copy at these cheap-as-chips prices!

Have a fun day everyone! toni xx

Scrappy Bunnies.

IMG_1648

I love how you can take a small handful of scraps, add a little time and love, and end up with this. How cute is she!?

This is the old Scrappy Bunnies pattern that I’m updating. The pattern is the same, I’m just updating the fabrics and photos. I added a pair of glasses to this bunny as an experiment and I love how she turned out. I’ll let you know when the updated pattern is ready – probs tomorrow.

IMG_1647I’ve also been working on simplifying the admin. side of the business (which takes up a good 70% of my time) so I can spend more time sewing and creating. One of the things decided on is $4 Friday. In 2018 “Four Dollar Friday” will be held every second week to coincide with our newsletter release.

Have a lovely week everyone, I’m determined to finish a quilt this week! toni xx

Space Giraffe

Hi guys, another week has flown by and I’m still trying to get motivated. I’m working, but it’s coming in fits and starts. Everything is fine and I’ll be back on track soon; all of those 2am finishes in December took their toll and I’m not quite back on top of things yet.

I have giraffes, rockets, and pugs on my work table this week. I need a shopping trip to Peppermint Stitches to buy some more background fabric, I’m down to scraps in my stash.

My sweet boy turned 21 today. Twenty-one! I’m not sure where the time has gone.

You know how they say never work with kids and animals? Kate found this on her phone. Rem is the devil when it comes to quilts. If I put a quilt on the floor, he does this (even without the laser). Have a lovely weekend everyone, toni xx

Soft Kitty.

Why is it that when I say I’m taking time off, and I’m really feeling like death today, do I suddenly have the urge to get stuff done? It’s a mystery to me.

I thought I’d do some more re-binding today. Easy hand-work while my butt is expanding on the couch. Spud thought otherwise; I turned my back for two little minutes and there was a cat! LOL

Candy Cane Christmas will have to wait for it’s new wrapping! xx

Mermaid Tales + Five Dollar Fridays

I’m bored with being sick and I needed something to do while I was Netflix-ing and letting the antibiotics kick in. Mermaid Tales needed rebinding, so Ms Janome and I did some sneaky sewing. No-one was home to stop me, the fun police were at work and school LOL. It really only took half an hour to do I promise. I’m not good at doing nothing, it drives me crazy.

The mermaid dolls are from the Happy Quilts book, are easy to make, and match this quilt perfectly. I always link you to Amazon, but I’ve been told that Amazon are charging Australian customers anything up to $50 for the book plus postage. You can find Happy Quilts here at Book Depository for around Aud$26 with free postage.

Five Dollar Friday is back and A Mermaid’s Tale is on special in our Etsy store for $5 (plus applicable taxes) until Monday (my time – AEST).

You can buy the pattern directly from me, if you prefer, by using the buy now buttons below. I will email the PDF pattern to you, so please keep in mind differences in time zones. Thanks.

I’ve put the PRINTED pattern on sale too for Aud$12 including postage. I love how WordPress now allows me to put a simple shop on here now!

Dinner is ready and all joking aside I’m tired and I’m wheezing, so it’s time to call it quits for the night. Take care, toni xx
