Plant Sunflowers

Hey y’all, how are you this week? I have a Post-it note stuck to my monitor telling me to plant sunflowers. I’m not sure who put it there but I think it’s a great idea, don’t you?

I’ve spent the past two days updating the website. Everything should be much easier to find and follow now. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties.

You will see multiple “Buy me a Coffee” buttons across the site. Please don’t feel intimidated by them. It’s up to you if you would like to show a little extra support or not.

If you can share my website with your groups, Guilds, and quilty friends it would be wonderful and do so much towards allowing me to continue making you smile with happy quilts.

The next instalment of the Paper Dolls Sew-Along will be released late tomorrow afternoon. Yay! Have you got your fusible webbing and scrap fabrics ready?

I’ve also been putting together some framed Nine-patch blocks with the intention of using an entire bin of small fabric scraps that would’ve normally gone to landfill. I’ve even cut up some old clothes to recycle. It’s turning out so very soft and pretty.

Well I’ve been sitting at the computer for the better part of nine hours today. My back is aching and I’m craving a coffee (and two panadol). See you this time tomorrow with the next instalment of the Paper Dolls. Much love and thank you always, toni xx

Coming in 2020!

Hello lovelies, thank you for being part of the Red Boot’s family in 2019 ❤️

We will be doing a new free BOM in 2020 thanks to the lovelies at Therm O Web ❤️

Want a hint? It will be a paper doll quilt with a Red Boot’s twist!

Have a wonderful, New Year everyone. Our thoughts are with everyone in the fire zones, please stay safe and remember to have an evacuation plan in place. Love to all, toni xx

Contacting Us.

Hey lovelies, if you’ve contacted us and haven’t heard back please check your spam/junk folders for the missing replies.

Please also check that your mail settings aren’t blocking our emails. If you’ve set your internet security to the highest setting, the chances are we’re being blocked or put in your junk folder.

There is very little we can do to help you if your mail server is blocking us or sending our emails to spam. Actually there’s nothing we can do except fly to your house and knock on the door – which I’m sure would be lovely if a little impractical ha ha.

If you’ve emailed us but haven’t heard back, please direct message us (don’t leave a comment) via our official Facebook page. Facebook ‘hides’ comments all the time but direct messages (private messages) do get through.

Thanks everyone, toni xx

Jingle Bells

Hey lovelies, how has your week been? This is a quick check-in to let you know that our Christmas PDF patterns are 40% off in our Makerist store for the next 24 hours. The sale is on Berlin time so if you are after a bargain, jump in quick.

We will be running a Black Friday sale in our Etsy store this week/weekend too. You will receive 20% off all patterns (except the seconds/misprints). I think that starts tomorrow (US time) 26th November and runs until 4th December, 2019. I’m currently working across three international time zones and in three languages so I’m a little confused LoL.

There are more seconds patterns in the Etsy store today. Keep checking back because I’ll be adding more over the coming weeks.

I’m sorry there’s nothing new at the moment. Terri and I have been working hard all year to get the patterns updated and were thrown a huge curveball with the black printing problem. Curse changing technology and the lack of consistency across the various devices and apps we use!

We’re frantically trying to get everything done before the end of the year so we can start 2020 with a clean slate. We’re both just about screaming with the frustration of it all but we can’t take Red Boots to the next level until everything is sorted out. Thanks for your patience xx.

Home Sweet Gnomes…

Hey y’all, ‘Home Sweet Gnome’ is now available in our Etsy store for the usual special introductory price.

I’m not able to get decent photographs at present, I just don’t have the mental fortitude to deal with my nutty neighbour. It’s something I’ll sort out in the New Year. Thanks for understanding. Have a lovely weekend everyone, toni xx

It’s November!

Hello lovelies, it’s the 1st of November and I am, as ever, stunned at how fast the year is flying by. I thought I’d pop in and let you know where I’m at right now.

I’m almost finished the pattern for the gnome quilt. I was hoping it get it listed this weekend but it depends on photos (and it’s raining). I’ll let you know as soon as I’m done.

I’ve spent most of this year working with Terri, an editor, who is helping me upgrade the patterns with the view to eventually securing an American distributor. Just when we thought we were finished, the black background (PDF) printing issue cropped up and we were sent back to square one.

This Little Piggy Free Block-of-the-Month

Thankfully we’ve figured out the best way to overcome the problem in the majority of cases but it’s very time consuming. I want this finished before the end of the year so I can dedicate my time to actual designing, sewing, and pattern writing again. A huge thank you to the lovely people helping me out with test printing. xx

Windy Hill Farm Quilt Pattern

This month we will finish our ‘This Little Piggy’ block of the month quilt. I hope you’ve enjoyed sewing along with us. We will be running another free BOM next year and we’ll release details early in 2020.

Maria’s Land Down Under quilt. Thank you Maria xx

I’m hoping to release a couple of Christmas patterns in the next couple of weeks, but no promises at this stage. Anyway it’s heading for midnight, it’s raining a little, and I need my anti-wrinkle sleep (ha ha ha). Have a fabulous weekend, toni xx

Happy International Dog Day

Good morning, good morning, tra la la la la, happy Monday everyone!

It’s International Dog Day and all dog themed PDF patterns are on sale in our Etsy store for the next 24 hours only.

We’ve had several dogs over the years. I don’t have any photos to share because it was pre affordable digital cameras (OMG I’m sooo old). Sweet little Rosie dog was a black & white patchy bitzer named after my daughter’s kindergarten teacher LoL. Then we had Daisy the totally insane golden labrador who had a penchant for eating sunglasses and barbie dolls, then came Sammy who quite literally tried to eat our timber house. Years later we’re still finding teeth marks – he actually chewed through our stairs at one point.

I love dogs but we don’t have the time, or a fenced yard, to own one right now. I’m also dog poo phobic – yeah doggy do do makes me squeamish like you wouldn’t believe LoL.

So instead we have two gorgeous ginger kitties who are fat, mostly lazy, and adorable. I was telling everyone on Facebook about Rem on the weekend – he likes to get up on my desk (which is in my bedroom) and rake his claws across the keyboard at 3am in the morning to get my attention. It works. Every. Single. Time. He makes such a racket.

If I ignore him he turns my hubby’s computer on, which is feet from my face, and I wake up to a screen saver staring at me. The crew think it’s funny to take turns putting leering faces on it. Currently it’s Nic Cage and I jump every time LoL.

One of these days, when we move house and have a fenced yard, and we’re not so busy I think we’ll get another dog. What breed to choose? A rescue dog? Who can I pay to scoop the poop!?!?

In the meantime I’ll make myself a pack of doggie soft toys and console myself that they mightn’t be as warm as a real dog, as loving as a real dog, but at least there’s no poop and they won’t try and eat the house! Have a fun day lovelies, toni xx

Ps. I just have to share this weird bit of news this morning. I’ve just had the Harry & the Hound Dogs quilt pattern banned on Facebook because it’s sexually implicit. OMG save us from artificial intelligence! I win the internet this week and yes I’m laughing my head off!

Fairies in my Garden.

Hi lovely people, there are fairy princesses on my worktable tonight.

I’ve been talked into making a new quilt, based on the original Flower Fairies pattern.

The new one will be easier to fuse, as there won’t be so many overlapping pieces. I’ve doubled up the face fabric so the wings and hair don’t show through when it’s fused – when using this method always use featherlite or lite fusible webbing otherwise you’ll end up with a stiff applique shape.

Retired Flower Fairies Quilt

Okay, back to work. I’ve got five quilts on the go and I need to finished them! I hope you had a great weekend, toni xx
