Don’t Worry, Be Happy

Hello lovely quilters! How has your week been? I’ve been diving into my scrap bins, getting creative with recycled materials, and catching up on admin. I completely forgot our wedding anniversary last week, not that we really celebrate beyond marvelling at how we’ve put up with each other for so long. Ha ha ha! But it shows that my mind has been elsewhere.

I’ve put together a sweet little (medium sized) quilt made from scrap fabrics and an old, recycled sheet (for the borders). Rem has claimed it for his own, but I’m really pleased that something so.. so happy, can be created from left over scraps. If you look closely you can see where I’ve joined fabrics to make whole shapes.

My local supply/fabric stores have been closed under the Coronavirus lockdowns so I had to get creative with fabric, especially for the borders. I found an old, orphan sheet in amongst my linen; I gave it a good starch and pressing and took to it with the rotary cutter. Voila! a finished quilt top!

It’s been pressed, de-furred and packaged up ready for quilting. I’ll have the pattern uploaded to Etsy in the next day or two. Now to make a proper start on the Sloths. I wonder if I have another orphan sheet somewhere to cut up for borders LoL. Have fun, take care, stay healthy, give someone a virtual, virus free hug. Much love, toni xx

Friday Faves on the Farm

Happy Friday lovelies and Happy (belated) Fourth of July to our lovely friends in the US.

A quick question – do your children or grandchildren watch Bluey? I’ve been thinking…

This week’s Friday Faves are the Windy Hill Farm quilt, the Little Bears quilt, the Snuggle Bears soft toys, the Jingle Bells Snack Mats, and the Merry Christmas Snack mats.

Please don’t purchase the Windy Hill Farm pattern if you own the Happy Quilts book. A similar pattern is available in the book.

All patterns have a printed version and they are on special this week too – except the Windy Hill Farm pattern. The printed pattern is $16.50. This is a huge pattern and I need to increase the price to make even a small profit. There may be some further price increases on a small amount of patterns over the next few weeks. Sorry guys. xx

Little Bears Quilt

The Winner of our Thermoweb June giveaway – for sharing your project photos with me – is Gay T. I’ll be in contact shortly Gay. Congratulations!

Terri and I have been updating the ‘mug rug’ patterns. The internet has decided that ‘mug rug’ is a granny term and has updated it to ‘snack mat’. Therefore… these are our Christmas snack mats LoL. They are now available in printed format.

The Snuggle Bears pattern includes the Grumpy Grizzly templates. If you already own the Happy Quilts book or the Grumpy Grizzly pattern you don’t need to purchase this pattern.

Please message me if you are unsure whether you already have these patterns. Occasionally I will change the name of a pattern to try and rank better in the search algorithms. Gone are the days when you purchased most patterns through your local quilt store, now we’re competing with a billion other entries on Google and have to stay as relevant as possible.

Terri has been helping me pull everything together and we’re hoping to be done updating everything by the end of this year – sooner I hope! Once done, the patterns will remain as they are and won’t be changed in the future.

Have a lovely weekend everyone, take care, toni xx

This Little Piggy #5

Hi y’all, how’s things with you guys today? It’s time for us to upload the next instalment in the “This Little Piggy” BOM.

You can download this month’s instructions (Month #5) as well as previous month’s instructions here. This month we’ve added our farmers to the quilt.

We’ve also put together a preview of the quilt (so far) for you. It should help you make a few colour choices and decisions. Please note that this is for illustration purposes only. The sun isn’t fused to the quilt yet and you shouldn’t sew the blocks together as yet.

A big CONGRATULATIONS to Karen T. who is the winner of this month’s Therm-o-Web giveaway. Enter this month’s giveaway by leaving a comment on this post telling me your favourite candy or snack food.

I’ve (just) worked out how to do a percentage off on the Red Boot’s website. You’ll have to use a coupon code though – if you enter this code at the checkout you’ll receive 20% off your order – FRIDAYFRENZY1 . You can download the Piggy patterns from here too, you’ll find them under free patterns.

You’ll be pleased to know (I hope) that I’m getting some sewing done. It’s been extraordinarily hard getting back to it and I have a massive backlist of quilts to make. I truly hope that the second half of the year will be more productive than the first.

I have a box of luscious flannels to play with and I feel like making a big, squishy bear quilt. Never fear the gnomes are still on the cutting table too.

Well that’s it from me, my brain has suddenly decided not to work *sigh* and I know not to push myself when it does this. Much love to all, toni xx

January + New Monthly Giveaway

Hello lovelies, can you believe it’s the end of January already? I had so much planned for this month and then the January blahs took over.

I’ve been (slowly) working on a space quilt, a pug quilt, a giraffe quilt, an update to the Honeybee Bears quilt, and a new ABC quilt. I’m hoping that I have all five finished before the end of February.

As you might remember, last year we closed our Birthday Club due to internet (ro)bots. This year we have decided to give our monthly giveaways another chance and do them differently. There are two ways you can enter the prize draw.

Firstly you can become a member of The Red Boots Gang which is our Facebook Group. This is a closed group where you can chat, ask questions, and generally have a bit of fun.
Please pop on over, join up, and say hi!

As a member you will be automatically entered in our monthly giveaways. I’ll draw a winner from the member’s list on the last day of every month and notify them via messaging.

The second way to win is to subscribe to our newsletter. We are planning on sending (2) newsletters a month in 2018 so your inbox won’t be spammed. I’ll draw a winner from the subscriber’s list on the last day of every month and notify them via email.

This month’s prize pack consists of (1) 1.25 yard pack of HeatnBond Lite plus (1) pack of Pressing Sheets. One pack will be given away to each group. Good Luck!

Thermoweb Giveaway

I know that some of you must be wondering why I’ve haven’t included our standard Facebook page, blog, and Instagram accounts in the giveaway draws. The answer is very simple, it’s extremely time consuming and confusing to run the giveaways across so many platforms and I can’t afford a prize (or the postage) for each platform. By consolidating the entry points to two platforms so much of my time is freed for sewing and you receive a better quality prize pack.

Why do I have so many social media accounts? Well it’s not by choice LOL, it’s a requirement of working in this business. Did you know that I have to report my social media numbers to the businesses/publishers I work with. It’s a vital and compulsory part of my work. It does however mean I can’t please everybody despite wanting to, I hope you all understand.

I hope your January hasn’t been too hot, too cold, or too full of the blahs. toni xx

Tiny Princesses.

It seems an eternity since I was working on the “Happy Quilts” book. Tiny Princesses is still one my favourites from the book. So sweet and happy.

You can use the templates from the Super Heroes quilt to add some handsome princes to the Tiny Princesses. From memory you will need to print the templates for the boys a tiny bit bigger to fit.

The Snuggle Bears quilt and soft toy is also from the “Happy Quilts” book. Snuggle bears is the perfect size for nap time cuddles! You can easily replace the flowers with stars for a more masculine quilt.

Hound Dogs is another favourite from the book. Who doesn’t love snuggling with man’s best friend?

“Happy Quilts” is still available at Amazon, and in good book stores everywhere. You can find more stockists here. It’s great value for money and has loads of projects to make and love.

mystery gift 2

Congratulations to Di, Sew4Fun, and Marlene who have each won a copy of the Frosty’s Christmas pattern bundle, and to Kim Q. who won the $30 Therm-0-Web gift voucher. I’ve sent you all an email/message.

I’ve had a lot of emails today asking if I’m okay. I am mostly, thanks heaps for asking. I’ve been under an enormous amount of stress over the past couple of years due to an extreme domestic violence problem with our neighbours. I won’t go into details, but their problems intrude into our lives on a daily basis. My immune system has reacted to the constant stress by attacking my body in varied and interesting ways, the latest being chronic hives. We’re being looked after well, but in the end we need to move house to escape this nightmare. xx
