Hi lovely people, how are you on this chilly Friday? It’s been a long week and we took some time out today to go for a drive through the mountains to de-stress. One of the benefits of my husband’s work hours being cut is that we have Fridays off work. I swung by Peppermint Stitches on the way through and stocked up on fabric just in case we go into lockdown again. I managed to snag some of the new Tula Pink True Colour’s fabrics. My phone takes lousy photos but these fabrics are yummy! Sloths and Llamas are next on the sewing list.
It’s time for the next instalment of our Paper Doll Sew-Along, brought to you by the gorgeous people at Thermoweb. Thermoweb make my fave fusible webbing, HeatnBond Lite, as well as hundreds of other quality sewing and craft products. Pop on over to their Facebook page and say hi! from everyone at Red Boots.

I’m very please to say that I’ve finally been able to buy the extra fabric I needed to finish the border (thanks Covid-19) and I’ll be able to get it quilted soon!
I’ve been a bit naughty and have changed one of the blocks in the quilt. The cat block was being problematic and my lovely friends kicked me up the butt and told me to bite the bullet and change it. Don’t hate me!!!Click on the image below to download the new templates. If you prefer to keep the kitty in it’s original form, please message me and I’ll help you adapt the remainder of the quilt to fit.
I have been meaning to tell you that we have some new stockists! You can now find my patterns at the Patchwork Angel in Qld, Busy Needles in NSW, Anne Arbor Sewing Centre in Michigan, and Fiddlesticks Fabrics in Northern Ireland. You can find their details and links here.Welcome to the Red Boots family everyone!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone, hubby just walked in with pizza and beer, he’s a keeper! Stay safe and healthy. Much love to all, toni xx
Hellllloooo everyone! How has your week been? Are you still working or are you self-isolating? I’ve drawn up some bonus paper dolls blocks – a wedding group – bride, bridesmaid, and groom. I’ll upload the templates to the website later tomorrow. I’ll be adding more bonus blocks over the coming weeks including doctors, nurses, and their vehicles etc.
Message me with any requests (for paper dolls) you have and I’ll see what I can do – no promises, but I’ll try to draw them for you. All templates will fit the current sew-along. You can resize the templates by using the resize option on your printer(to add children to your quilt). Try resizing at 90% to 95% to begin – experiment with the sizes until you are happy with them.
Our Thermoweb giveaways will be postponed until the end of the sew-along because of CV-19. International parcel post has been suspended due to a lack of airline services. We’ll have one giant giveaway instead of six little ones. In the meantime I’m hoping I can rustle up some more prizes for you!
Howdy folks, how are you all this funny, sunny Sunday? The news isn’t good is it. Life is getting a little scary for us all.
This morning I’ve been cleaning up the mess in the storage room. Ughhh, it’s disgustingly dusty from the dust storms and fires at the beginning of the year. There are also far too many cobwebs under there. We know there is a giant Huntsman spider living in there and I keep expecting it to jump (they jump!) out at me.
I’ve been trying to avoid doing it (cleaning) but I’ve lost a quilt top. I can’t find it anywhere and I’m starting to think it may have been binned by mistake. It got packed away when we had the house on the market and it’s not where it should be. Damn and blast! as my Grandma used to say.
I’ve also been playing with some scrappy cats. I don’t know where this will lead, I’m not sure I like it anymore. It may end up in my scrap bin, who knows. Maybe it’s the colours that are turning me off – I think if I make all the cats ‘real’ colours it might come together. Who am I to argue with the way my brain works LoL.
The next instalment of the Paper Dolls Sew-Along will be released this coming Friday. This week will also be a giveaway week thanks to the lovely people at Thermoweb. I’ll have some HeatnBond, patterns, earrings (made just for you) etc. to giveaway. More details to come!
My grumbling tummy is telling me that lunchtime was an hour ago so I’d better go and eat. Take care everyone, wash those hands, stay safe, much love to all, toni xx
Reminder! there are only a few weeks left to download the free This Little Piggy BOM from last year. It will revert to being a paid pattern from the 30th April.
Hello lovelies! and welcome to the first instalment of our Paper Dolls Sew-Along.Did you know that instalment is spelled differently in different countries?
Click on the photo below to download the file for Blocks 1 and 2. I will also upload it to the Sew-Along page as listed in the menu. You will be able to download the files for a full year for free. After that the pattern will revert to a paid pattern (February 2021).
Our Paper Doll Sew-Along is brought to you by the lovely people at Thermoweb, the makers of my favourite fusible webbing HeatnBond Lite.
The next instalment will be uploaded on the 6th March. Have fun everyone! toni xx
Hey lovelies, some of you have asked about fabric requirements for the new Paper Dolls sew-along. I don’t have a full requirements list as yet however you will need (35) pieces of fabric measuring at least 8in x 12in. You can use the photo below as a guide.
A full requirements list will be provided on release of the sew-along. This is a guide only for those of you who want to make a start collecting fabrics. You will also need an assortment of solid skin-toned fabrics.
You will notice that I haven’t gone with the original design. It was becoming too complex and bulky. I feel that this new version will not only be easier for the beginners who follow along but a more fun quilt in the long run.
