Friday night (Halloween) freebies.

Hey y’all,

How has your week been? Mine’s been pretty mundane and I haven’t been near the sewing machine for days. I’m a little stuck to be honest which is a good sign that I need a few days off to re-set my creative brain. I think a little fabric shopping might go a long way to helping though :o>

Halloween is fast approaching and we have a number of free projects for you to download thanks to the lovelies at Thermoweb the makers of my favourite fusible webbing, HeatnBond Lite. You can find the patterns here.

In keeping with the Halloween theme, the ‘Little Witches’ doll pattern is on special in our Etsy store this weekend. You can grab the PDF pattern for $4 and the printed pattern for $11.50 until Monday. The dress, cape, and hat are removable. These would have to be my favourite dolls, so easy to make and they look gorgeous with their bubblegum hair. small-witches-2Recently Kate and I have been documenting the orchids in our trees and gardens. If we manage to sell the house we want to take them with us, some of them are nearing 50 years old and I would hate for them to be destroyed by the new owner/developer. Aren’t they pretty. We have several different varieties of orchids naturalised in the trees and gardens, they love the macadamia nut trees in particular. It’s going to be hard finding them all.IMG_0740Enjoy your weekend everyone, I hope you manage to get some time off to relax, toni xx

A Spooky Sleepover.

After a few missteps I finally got the binding on the pumpkin quilt today. Every so often I make such a mess of things the only solution is to sit down and grab the unpicker!

The “Spooky Sleepover” quilt pattern will be available on Friday and the best news is it’s FREE! The lovelies at Therm-O-Web are sponsoring the project.

The quilt folds up into a easy-to-carry pocket. There’s room for a small pillow and pajamas too! It’s the perfect sleepover kit for Halloween.

IMG_1378I’ll have a heap of giveaways to celebrate the release too, so stay tuned! xx

Ps. you can make this project as a normal quilt, you don’t have to add the pillow pocket.

Not so spooky pumpkins…

A sneaky peek of my new freebie Halloween project brought to you by the lovelies at Therm-o-Web. This project is for the little guys in your life, the pumpkins are friendly spooky pumpkins because who wants candy-fuelled nightmares!

I’ll have some great giveaways to go with the launch next week. Stay tuned! xx

I sometimes forget…

I sometimes forget that it can be difficult to convey nuances and humour via a blog post. I have a wry, self-deprecating sense of humour and sometimes y’all take me seriously. Not your fault but mine.

I had a lovely birthday, I’m not really counting backwards, and I’m not worried about my jiggly bits – okay I’m totally lying about that one! A little less time sewing, a little less cheesecake, and a little more time exercising and all’s good.

She says as she’s eating cheesecake, drinking hot chocolate, and drooling over watching “Chef”.

Two quilts have gone off to be quilted – the dogs and a free Halloween/Fall project for the lovelies at Therm-o-web. I’m going to spend the weekend tidying up the horrendous mess I’ve made over the past couple of weeks then it’s back to work for a new design. Not sure what’s coming next, we’ll see what takes my fancy. I’ll let you know when the new quilt patterns are ready.

Every morning, while I’m drinking my second cup of coffee and eating breakfast, I’ve been going through boxes of mementos and scanning them into the computer. The plan is to bin (most) of the disintegrating drawings and papers and have them put into photo books or stored in e-format.

Some are too precious to throw out and I’ll have them framed, but you can’t keep it all, especially not in this climate. Too many paper munching bugs!

What do you do with all your memories/mementos? Are you ruthless and toss it out after a couple of weeks, or do you keep it all?

Have a wonderful weekend y’all, toni xx
