We’ve done it, we’ve updated all of the patterns and they’re just waiting to be print checked. It was a marathon effort, one we don’t want to repeat anytime soon! Thank you to Terri and everyone who has been helping me out, I appreciate it so much. I can now get back to the job of making happy quilts!
This is Jill’s Gnome Sweet Gnome quilt, isn’t it gorgeous! Thanks for sharing Jill.
You can find loads of our ‘seconds’ (printed) patterns in the Esty store. Most of them are $7.50 including postage. The seconds patterns are simply misprints. They look the same as normal printed patterns – the only difference is they may have typos or misprints in them. A spelling mistake, an extra space, or a format error. Most, almost all, errors you won’t even notice.
Well hey everyone, how has your week been? Mine has been one great big jumble of weird work schedules, uni (college) exams, end of semester parties, visitors from the US, and the horrors of the house being re-wired. Add nutty neighboursto the list and you get the gist. I sat down to have lunch today and woke up two hours later with my sandwich stuck to my shirt LoL.
I worked like crazy today to get the final instalment of the This Little Piggy quilt done only to realise that I’m a week early. Ta Da! Surprise! ha ha ha. I’ve uploaded it to the website so you can download Month 10 (our final instalment) now.
Thank you to everyone who has joined us in our little piggy adventure. We will be running a new BOM next year starting in February – the theme will be announced early January.
The gnome quilt pattern is almost done. I would have had it uploaded last week but our nutty neighbour made trouble while I was trying to photograph it. I ended up drawing it out instead which took a couple of extra days. I’m planning on having it uploaded to the Etsy store tomorrow morning.
I can’t believe how quickly this year is disappearing. The university year is finished (thank goodness) and Kelly had her last exam at dawn o’clock this morning. Being the nice Mum that I am, I volunteered to drive her into campus this morning before breakfast – hence the unscheduled lunchtime nap LoL.
The weather has suddenly heated up and Dave the scrub turkey has been hit with a fresh surge of turkey hormones. His nest is now at least four metres wide by two high (4 1/2 yards x 2 1/2 yards) and what was left of our garden is now the plant icing on top. He is very, very lucky we consider him to be part of the family.
The water dragons are out in force and have started laying their eggs in what’s left of the garden. Dave has done them a favour, the soil is dug over and soft, and they don’t have to do much work LoL.
The warmer weather has brought all the wildlife out of Winter hiding. I can hear the flying foxes (bats) squeaking in the trees as I’m typing. They make a heck of a noise, quite loud, and it’s very distinguishable from the other wildlife. The mango tree is finally getting fruit and they are coming in to feast. I was driving home at dusk on Tuesday night when one swooped down towards the car and pooped on my windscreen. Bat poop is disgusting!!!
Best of all the birds are back. The cockatoos are demanding seed and the rainbow lorikeets are screeching in the palm trees. Aussie birds tend to be very, very noisy and screech a lot – a bit like our politicians but much, much nicer :o)
Anyway lovelies, have a fabulous weekend. I’ll pop in tomorrow and let you know when the gnome pattern is done. toni xx
Hey y’all, how was your weekend? I’m still on weekend time as it’s a public holiday here in Queensland – the Queen’s Birthday long weekend (even though it’s not her actual birthday).
It was my birthday on Saturday, my real one LoL. It was nice to celebrate another successful trip around the sun. As is tradition (with us) we’ve spent the weekend watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy whilst eating cake.
I will be having a celebratory sale and a few giveaways this week, so please check in mid-week for details. You’ll find more details on our Facebook page.
I’ve been working on the gnome quilt in between sorting out this black printing issue which has become No. 1 priority. There are well over 1000 images to look at but I’m determined to get it fixed before the start of the New Year so I can start afresh (without this hanging over my head).
I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend, take care and be kind to each other, toni xx
Ps. If you’ve been linked to our website via the lovelies at Thermoweb, please message me about the quilt pattern you are looking for. We’re having download issues, so I’ll respond via email. Thanks, toni xx
Hello happy quilters, how has your week been? We’ve had some lovely Spring weather here in Brisbane and we even had our first storm of the season; it was absolutely fantastic to hear the rain on the roof.
The warm weather has brought the wildlife out of hibernation. There are loads of butterflies, native bees, and lizards. Our nutty neighbour has been chasing snakes all week, so I suppose they are awake too LoL. Dave the scrub turkey is still tending to, and increasing the size of his nest; we also had three blue tongue lizards come say hello.
The blue tongues have a real attitude problem. This guy was about 30cm (12in) long and was really cranky. He took a swipe at Martin, nipped Rem, and chased Kate. They open their mouths and hiss like crazy. They are super fast too.
My favourites though are the water dragons. They live in abundance in the creek behind our house. They climb the trees, sun themselves on our patio, and lay their eggs in the gardens. They crash through the bush making a heck of a noise and frequently scare the living daylights out of me when I nearly step on them. This photo was taken last year, he’s sitting on the branch of a tree a good seven metres from the ground.
I’ve been working on the templates for the gnome quilt (in between chasing lizards and neighbours) adjusting them here and there, getting them just right.
The first gnomes weren’t quite right. They were cute, but they didn’t fit in with Esmerelda and she is too sweet not to use.
I think I’ve got them right now, which means I can finally get cracking on finishing the quilt and pattern. So much of this job is trial and error, false starts and frustrations, followed by the pure joy of creating something that makes people happy.
Don’t forget to download the latest instalment in the piggy BOM. You can find the patterns by clicking on the “This Little Piggy” tab in the menu at the top of the page. Have a fun weekend everyone, I hope you get some time to work on something special. toni xx
Remy-the-Lion, also known as The Keeper of the Quilts. The tongue out means he’s not moving for anything or anybody. He’s currently obstructing work on my scrap bin bears, the gnomes, and the fairy princesses.
We love him even if he is a stubborn, furry, gorgeous, pain in the toosh. He’s also sulking because he was given chicken for dinner and he wanted fish LoL.
Hi y’all, how’s things with you guys today? It’s time for us to upload the next instalment in the “This Little Piggy” BOM.
You can download this month’s instructions (Month #5) as well as previous month’s instructions here. This month we’ve added our farmers to the quilt.
We’ve also put together a preview of the quilt (so far) for you. It should help you make a few colour choices and decisions. Please note that this is for illustration purposes only. The sun isn’t fused to the quilt yet and you shouldn’t sew the blocks together as yet.
A big CONGRATULATIONS to Karen T. who is the winner of this month’s Therm-o-Web giveaway. Enter this month’s giveaway by leaving a comment on this post telling me your favourite candy or snack food.
I’ve (just) worked out how to do a percentage off on the Red Boot’s website. You’ll have to use a coupon code though – if you enter this code at the checkout you’ll receive 20% off your order – FRIDAYFRENZY1 . You can download the Piggy patterns from here too, you’ll find them under free patterns.
You’ll be pleased to know (I hope) that I’m getting some sewing done. It’s been extraordinarily hard getting back to it and I have a massive backlist of quilts to make. I truly hope that the second half of the year will be more productive than the first.
I have a box of luscious flannels to play with and I feel like making a big, squishy bear quilt.Never fear the gnomes are still on the cutting table too.
Well that’s it from me, my brain has suddenly decided not to work *sigh* and I know not to push myself when it does this. Much love to all, toni xx
I dreamt a quilt (design) on Monday night. Really. Finally. I did. It involved gnomes and lots, and lots, of flowers. After a false start yesterday (which involved my neighbour, the police, and stolen mail) I got this little guy fused up tonight. Not bad for a tester. I’ll have to ditch that white fabric though, it’s a little see-through for my liking.
Tomorrow I’ll dust off the sewing machine and find where the heck I put my rotary cutter – yup, it’s been that long that I don’t remember where I put it LoL. I have a bolt of my trusty HeatnBond Lite at the ready and I’m raring to go!I’m back in business peeps!toni xx
Ps. The mail carrier felt so bad at delivering my parcel to our nasty neighbour that he came back today with flowers. How sweet is that!
