A handmade Christmas.

Good morning y’all, it’s another glorious day here in Brisi. Coffee has been drunk, we’ve been to pick up our farm direct produce boxes, I spoke to an expert about our bees, oohed and aahed over baby chickens and ducks, and now I’m ready to settle down to get some work done.

I hate to bring it up, but it’s that time of year again. It’s time to start thinking about a handmade Christmas. If you’re anything like me, you leave it until November and then it’s an awful rush to get things finished. I remember one year I was still binding a quilt at dawn o’clock on Christmas morning. I was so tired and cranky that Christmas day LoL.

To help you get started, our Christmas Snack Mat patterns are on special this weekend. You can whip up a dozen of these cuties, add a pretty mug, a few chocolates and bingo! you have a gift for teachers, neighbours, friends, and old Aunty Madge.

They are brilliant for Christmas stalls, school and daycare fund raisers, and fetes. I happily give permission for you to make and sell items made using our patterns for these purposes. You can find the patterns in our Etsy and web stores and they are now available in printed formats.

Our cute Scrappy Snowmen quilt pattern is on special this weekend as well. This one is perfect for those cold Winter nights in front of the fire.

I promised everyone a warm weather Christmas quilt this year. At this point all I can is that I’m trying hard to get it done but I’m not sure I’ll make it in time. Sorry peeps. However we have a surfing Summer Santa in our Santa sacks pattern. It will be re-released and ready to go this weekend. I’ll let you know when it’s done.

Have a happy, crafty, handmade weekend everyone! toni xx

This Little Piggy #8

Hey lovelies, the next instalment of This Little Piggy has been uploaded. You can find Month #8 plus the previous blocks here. I’ve also uploaded a printing guide – if you’re having trouble with that pesky black printing issue, please download it and have a read.

Congratulations to Valerie B. who is the winner of this month’s Therm O Web This Little Piggy giveaway!

Friday the 13th confession… I have never mastered the art of eating and reading a book at the same time. Not even a cuppa and a bikkie. I turn into a dribble monster. It’s quite a sight to behold. I’m the same with anything that has ketchup on it LoL.

Thank you to the lovely people at Therm O Web for their generosity and support. I use and I recommend HeatnBond Lite for all your projects.

Not only is it Friday the 13th, it’s also full moon, and we have real bats swooping around our yard tonight. There’s a large colony not far from us, and you can hear them squeaking in the trees.

To celebrate all things spooky our wee ghosties & ghouls are on special in our webstore and Etsy store! Monster Mash,Pretty Little Kitties, Pink Piggy Farm, and Merry & Bright are also on special this weekend.

I hope you have a great weekend everyone. We’ll be clearing the dry grass and plants on our back hill. Fire season has come early and the drought has made everything tinder dry. I fear this is the new normal and rain is but a sweet memory. I’m also hoping to squeeze in some quality sewing time. Wish me luck! Stay safe, have fun, and most of all be kind to each other. toni xx

I decided to pad out my pet mat using an old towel as wadding. I added a pretty fabric for the backing and bound it like a quilt using a deep mulberry coloured binding. As long as your iron doesn’t touch the vinyl all is good. It sewed really well and I’m very happy with it. A dog themed pet mat is up next. FREE pattern available next week. xx

Frosty’s Christmas

Friday night has gone to the dogs.

Hey guys, I’ve put the Kennel Club, A Pug’s Life, Canine Capers, and Hound Dogs on special this weekend. The usual price $4 for the PDF and $11.50 for the printed patterns.

I’ve also put the Reindeer Games quilt on special.Web-Reindeer-Games-1200Tutti Fruity pandas are on my work table, amongst other things this week. I found them wallowing in my scrap bin and thought I’d do some work on them. I’m jumping from project to project at the moment, I can’t quite settle to one quilt LOL.

Enjoy your weekend lovely people, toni xx

Hi.

Hi folks, I thought I’d pop in and say hello. After a supremely busy few weeks there’s been a sudden lull and I don’t know what to do with myself.

late night reindeer

Tidying up my workspace is on the top of my to-do list and I made a start tonight. After a year of non-stop activity it’s become a chaotic mess and I can’t find a thing. Look at those tidy threads and buttons! They will stay tidy for 0.3 seconds but look… TIDY!

I have a box of drawings and templates to sort out, and there’s ‘that’ thread box to tackle. I think I should just add tinsel, don’t you think it looks like a thread Christmas tree? ;O>

THAT thread

It’s also time to find the boxes of Christmas decorations and get into the spirit of all things tinselly.

Did you see the photo on Facebook of my visitor today? A tiny snake in my drink bottle. He was so small but very aggressive. He was swaying like a cobra about to strike LOL. At least he wasn’t as big as this guy (who was on our verandah a little while ago).

While I was looking for the photo of the python I found this photo of the projects from the Happy Quilts book. It was taken the day that everything was returned from the publisher. It was such a relief to be done LOL.

happy quiltsNext week I’m going to do a survey to see what you’d like me to tackle next year as well as size preferences etc. Have a bit of a think about it in the meantime, I always appreciate your input. Have a lovely weekend everyone, I’m determined to get to bed before midnight tonight so I’d better log off and finish up for the night. Take care, toni xx

Do you need a quick Christmas project to make? These little reindeer are so easy to put together and look really sweet. The pattern is free (click the “Free Stuff” menu tab at the top of the page).

Look what I did.

I bought and put up a Christmas tree. The lights needs to be fixed and the box of decorations found, but it’s up. A real plastic tree… wonders never cease.

xmas2I can’t decide what quilt to hang on the wall behind it. I put up Santa’s House 2 but I might swap it out for another one. The furniture needs to be moved around so I can’t decide yet.

I popped into Peppermint Stitches this weekend because I needed some fabric for the free Santa sack pattern I’m doing for Therm-O-Web. Except I totally forgot the Christmas fabric and walked out with a sack full of Tilda fabrics instead. Ooops! The free pattern will be available in about two weeks time. Stay tuned!

Otherwise not much is happening on the sewing front. It’s Kel’s last week of high school, hubby has taken a week off work to tile our laundry floor, and I have a chore list as long as my arm to get through. I’ve got to make a date with those Tilda fabrics though :oD

It’s the last day to pick up a copy of this week’s Five Dollar Friday patterns. Santa’s House 2, Reindeer Games, and Flamingo Dance are on special this weekend for $5 for the PDF pattern and $10 (including postage) for the printed patterns. xx

Five Dollar Friday!

UPDATE: The kids ordered pizza for dinner so I had time to make an Etsy listing for the printed patterns. TEN DOLLAR FRIDAY for printed patterns is here! FREE postage worldwide. Find them here on Etsy – use the drop down menu under the price to select the patterns.

Hiya lovelies, it’s Friday again and these are our Five Dollar Friday PDF patterns for this week.

Santa’s House 2, Reindeer Games, and Flamingo Dance are all Aud $5 each (plus any local taxes payable) until Monday.

If you prefer printed patterns (posted to your mailing address) please scroll to the bottom of the page for details. The three printed patterns are on special for Aud$10 including free postage!

The last of the Henry pins are on special this week too. You can grab a Henry Jones Jr. enamel moose pin for the amazing price of $7.50 which includes FREE shipping worldwide.

It has been another super busy week and I’ve barely had the time to look at the sewing machine much less get anything done. I’ve spent all week, an amazing amount of time actually, putting together sample pattern packs for retailers, posting prizes, and formatting the new patterns to fit six double sided pages.

Why six? I have to keep paper patterns under 50 grams otherwise the postage price almost triples. A pattern that weighs under 50g costs $2.95 to post o/seas, a pattern that weighs 51g+ costs $8!

Frosty’s Christmas Quilt Pattern

Can you believe Christmas is only six weeks away? Scary stuff isn’t it. I bought a Christmas tree this year. It’s in a box on the lounge room floor. It’s been there for three weeks and the cats think it’s a new piece of furniture LOL. I keep looking at it, willing myself to put it up. Christmas is a time of intense grief and loss for me and I struggle with it. This year I’m determined to turn that around. Little steps…

I wanted to say a HUGE thank you to those of you who have ‘bought me a coffee’ using the App in the sidebar. I was made aware of the App by another quilter/artist who encouraged me to put it on the freebie page of the website. I don’t make a great deal of money, certainly not a wage at this point, so I’m immensely grateful for your generosity. Thank you.

Well, it’s back to the grindstone for me. There’s dinner to be thought about, coffee to be drunk, and fabric to be cut up into little pieces and put together again. Quilts to be made!

Have a lovely weekend everyone, toni xx

Soft Kitty.

Why is it that when I say I’m taking time off, and I’m really feeling like death today, do I suddenly have the urge to get stuff done? It’s a mystery to me.

I thought I’d do some more re-binding today. Easy hand-work while my butt is expanding on the couch. Spud thought otherwise; I turned my back for two little minutes and there was a cat! LOL

Candy Cane Christmas will have to wait for it’s new wrapping! xx

How was your weekend? The local tribe of scrub turkeys (wild native turkeys) got into our Winter bulbs, annuals, and succulents and we’ve had to re-plant twice this weekend. Everything has been netted, wired, and generally turkey-proofed I hope – fingers crossed – otherwise they may end up trussed, stuffed, and cooked!

They are making nest mounds and even though the babies are the cutest things you will ever see running about the yard, they are super destructive when it comes to gardens. Bless their destructive little hearts. Have a fun week, t. xx
