Happy August.

Hi y’all, it’s August and everyone is talking about how close Christmas is. My head is firmly in the sand when it comes to Christmas, I’m just not ready to accept it’s the end of the year.

I haven’t quite got my head around the new Uni timetable yet so I’m not getting much work done. I’ve got the fabric ready for the cows and my sketchbook is full of ideas for a Summer Christmas quilt.

Some of my older quilts need updating using new fabrics, so I’m slowly working through them, making a block here and there when I find the time. The Rabbits at Hyde Park is currently in the queue for a fabric makeover.

I’ve put some patterns on special this week for you. Teddy Bear’s Picnic, Fun at the North Pole, Scrappy Alphabet, Scrappy Snowmen, Flamingo Dance, and Isaac the Robot are all $4 for the PDF version and $11.50 for the printed patterns. You can find my store here.

I’ve also done the draw for the July giveaway. Congratulations to Christine and Lynda. I’ll pop your prizes in the post as soon as I hear back from you. Thank you to everyone who participates and enters.
Screen Shot 2018-08-03 at 10.01.36 pm.pngI hope everyone has a lovely weekend, I really hope to get some sewing done, it’s been a real struggle to find the time this year. toni xxrabbits-craftsy-small

I’m not feeling particularly creative which always feeds my anxiety and leads to a lot of frustration. I know everyone is a little over snowmen right now, but I’ve been playing with these guys this week. They were in my scrap bin and I thought I’d resurrect them. Never fear the cows are still on my worktable ha ha!

snowmanOkay I have to go and change the sheets on the beds before the weather turns gloomy and wet again. Then think of dinner. Then maybe, maybe I’ll get to do some sewing ha ha! Enjoy your weekend everyone, toni xx

It’s $4 Friday!

Hiya lovelies, it’s $4 Friday! This week’s patterns are Santa’s House, Boot-n-SkootA Pug’s Life, and Scrappy Cats. The printed patterns are also on special for $11.50 which includes postage.

Happy Quilts is still ‘out of stock’ on Amazon dot com, but it’s still available on the Amazon Australia and Book Depository websites. I was about to link you to Amazon Australia but then I read the fine print and the Oz site ships from Book Depository anyway and it’s $5 dearer – how cheeky is that!

Hubby goes back to work on Monday so I should be able to knuckle down and get some sewing done. We’ve spent our holiday fixing the bathroom instead of having some much needed time away. We’re still showering in a giant plastic bag which isn’t optimum in Winter ha ha!

Enjoy your weekend everyone, the bathroom is finally free and the plastic bag awaits! toni xx

Howdy folks. June Giveaway.

Howdy folks, how has your week been? Mine has been spent catching up on household chores and getting that all important annual breast check. Have you had your breasts checked lately? Pick up the phone and make that appointment lovelies.

I’ve a couple of things to share with you this week. First up, June’s Red Boots/Thermoweb giveaway. This month’s prize includes (1) pack of HeatnBond Ez-Print Lite, (1) pack of HeatnBond Iron-on Lightweight Fusible Interfacing, a selection of Red Boots patterns, and (1) Ecosilk shopping bag. You can find how to enter here.

June-GiveawayI use my stash of HeatnBond Interfacing for all sorts of things. I fuse it to background blocks where the fabric is a little too see-through, I cut it in strips to stabilise the fraying edges of applique and pieced blocks, and it’s great for fusing to the back of stitchery blocks.

I can also highly recommend the EcoSilk shopping bags. Hubby and I have used them for about seven years now and they are the perfect replacement for single-use plastic shopping bags. No affiliations or sponsorship, just a great local product.Screen Shot 2018-06-15 at 9.23.09 pm

The lovely Joan from Moosestash Quilting wrote a wonderful blog post about her “Pachyderms in my Petunia Patch” quilt this week. Joan’s quilt is gorgeous don’t you think and her quilt-name is much better than my lame ‘Patchwork Elephants’ ha ha! Pop on over to her blog to say Hi.

joan's elephantsKerry also shared a piccy of her (almost finished) ‘Mr Fox’s Garden‘ quilt with me. Kerry added an extra row of foxes and flowers to make the quilt longer. It’s going to look amazing when it’s finished.

P1060057 (800x600)Thanks for letting me share your photos guys. Your photos always make my day. xx

In some not-so-good news, Etsy is increasing their fees by 40% in mid-July. I won’t be increasing my standard prices and will suck up the extra fees, however it will affect $4 Fridays. I’ll have more info about that when I do the math.

The Land Down Under

In other news I am removing the bonus templates from ‘The Land Down Under‘ quilt for all future pattern sales.

web-wild-things

Well that’s it for tonight, I’m heading off to make a coffee and then I’m going to clean up my work space. Time to get ready for another happy quilt. Cows anyone?

Enjoy your weekend, toni xx

$4 Friday + Aussie Quilt

Howdy folks. As my son would say – it’s me! ha ha. How has your week been? I’m sitting here chatting with my daughter who right at this moment is at Paris Disneyland. Don’t you just love technology. There is 16,540 kilometres between Brisbane and Paris and we’re able to talk and squeal over Disney souvenirs LOL.

First up, instead of $4 Friday, everything’s on sale this weekend. Pop on over and grab a bargain in our Etsy store.

kennel-club-etsyThe Aussie quilt is almost done. I had some unpicking to do, I really botched drawing the possums. After a fair bit of unpicking, I got the top put back together this afternoon. You can pre-order it in our Etsy store this weekend. The pattern will be emailed to you on Monday, 11th June AEST. It measures approx. 54 1/2in x 58 1/2in (unless I add a smallish final border).

The cold weather has crept in today and I’ve dragged out the flannel quilts. I’ve always been drawn to the soft, luxurious feel of flannel and I love working with it. This quilt is king sized and is actually made from scraps. It has four giant Sawtooth Stars and is so warm and snuggly. It’s also a cat magnet – the fur, oh the fur!

IMG_0324

Flannel is absolutely fabulous for making the animals and critters on your quilts ‘furry’. The textural difference between normal cotton and flannel is fantastic. Flannel works fine with fusible webbing too. I would recommend using a machine blanket stitch though.

The Scrappy Daisies quilt is actually made from flannel and the (fusible) applique has stood the test of time. The quilt is about 10 years old now and has survived many a machine wash (did I mention the cat fur!?).

Ps. The Scrappy Daisies pattern is free and you can find it under the ‘Free Patterns’ menu tab.

I have totally lost my train of thought (don’t you just hate it when that happens) so I’ll say goodnight. Enjoy your weekend lovelies, toni xx

It’s $4 Friday!

It’s $4 Friday!

Fun at the North Pole, Camp Grizzly, Teddy Bear’s Picnic, The Wild West, and Frosty’s Christmas are all on special this weekend. $4 for the PDF patterns $11.50 (incl. postage) for the printed patterns.

Our Aussie quilt is coming along. I’ve spent all day today trying to get an echidna right. I’m not sure whether I’ve cracked it yet, we’ll see how it goes. I’ve also found that wombats need their eyes and noses placed just right otherwise they look like fat koalas LOL.

The white background fabric is still giving me a little trouble from a (lack of) colour point of view. I’m thinking of adding some colour and texture via some hand-stitching. This quilt could be adorable but it could also go very wrong. I’m actually finding it very difficult to get right.

Have a lovely weekend everyone, I’m hoping to get some sewing done, but there is so much to do around the house, I don’t know where to start. toni xx

Our Therm-o-Web giveaway for May is almost due to be drawn. You can find the details on how to be part of our monthly giveaway here.

May-giveawayHappy Quilts is still on super special on Amazon. It’s terrific value for money so grab a copy before they are all gone.

Happy Everything

I heard a guy on TV say that to someone in parting… instead of goodbye, he said ‘happy everything’. I thought it was pretty cool.

I wanted to check in today and say ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ to everyone. We don’t do anything special, my kids asked me what I wanted and I said a French cheesecake. I may have eaten far too much… a slice for breakfast, morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea LOL. I hope you had a lovely day with your family. Extra hugs for those of you who do it tough today. I know a lot of you do.

snuggle bear 1

We have a fabulous Mother’s Day giveaway here.

Mothers-Day-GiveawayAmazon has my Happy Quilts book on super special at the moment. It’s as cheap as chips so pop on over and grab a copy before they’re all gone. I’m not sure whether the publisher will do a reprint – as far as I know, once they’re gone, they’re gone. It’s great value for money with (20) patterns included. If you don’t have a CD reader in your computer never fear toni is here. Message me and I’ll send you the PDF’s via email (with proof of purchase of course).

I’m off to the supermarket to find something for dinner. After 30 years I’ve run out of ideas. Whatever happened to that space age idea of the meal-in-a-pill? I could always have cheesecake ha!

Happy everything lovelies, toni xx

I think that’s it for today. I’m going to grab a coffee and get back to work on those Koala (bears? toni ducks and hides from angry Aussies – because Koalas aren’t bears).
