Hiya lovelies! How are you this windy Friday?
We’ve had the perfect Autumn weather this week; gorgeous deep blue skies, golden light, warm days, and cool nights. It’s my favourite time of the year.
We’ve given “The Land Down Under” pattern a makeover. I receive a lot of emails asking how to incorporate the bonus blocks in the design so we decided to play around with the layout and ta-da! done. I’ve managed to reduce the pages too which means I can reduce the cost of the printed pattern – bonus!
It’s not ready to go yet but I’ll upload the adjusted pattern early next week. Don’t worry if you’ve purchased the previous version of the pattern, it’s the same quilt except I’ve resized the bottom three background blocks and squished the platypus template to fit. I’ll add the remaining bonus blocks – Tasmanian Devil, Quoll, and Flying Fox to the freebies page later this week. I’m happy to share the size of the three new blocks as soon as I’ve checked my math. I’ll upload them to the freebie page as an ‘update’ later this week.

The orthotics for my shoes arrived yesterday (yippee!) and I wore them for the first time today. Oh boy this is gonna hurt!
My right leg is shorter than my left now and it’s twisted inwards. I’m only allowed to use them for an hour a day until I build up tolerance and strength but wow the difference is amazing.
I didn’t trip or stumble (like I have been) and I could feel the stability they gave me. I’m going to hurt so much, I could feel my body straightening itself from top to toe. When I took them out of my shoes I went back to my ‘I’ve been a sailor for 40 years’ rolling walk LOL.
That’s about it from me this week. Step by step, stumble by stumble I’m getting better. Take care of yourselves; be happy, have fun, hug someone you love, toni xx
- My fave song this week – Aretha Franklin’s “Eleanor Rigby”.
- I’m re-reading “Wuthering Heights” by Emily Bronte. Are these characters as horrible as I remember them to be? I always thought Wuthering Heights was one the most over-rated classics in print. Maybe I’ll change my mind now that I’m older???
- I’m planting next season’s seedlings… sunflowers and delphiniums, zinnias and pansies, marigolds and cornflowers, ranunculus and freesias.
So excited for you that you finally have something to help! I understand your problems and hope these orthotics work their magic for you!! 🙂 Blessings!!
I’m so happy to hear that you got your new orthotics. I’m sorry it was such a battle to be heard. I totally understand – was just diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos in January. I’m 52 and have been complaining of pain, clumsiness, and “wrongness” for about 40 of those 52 years!! Sounds like you also likely need pelvic floor therapy to help you straighten and right everything.
Hugs from this side of the world!
P.s. Sorry to keep repeating myself on this Ehlers Danlos/pain thing. Sadly, it’s my life now, but I keep myself going by trying to help others that are in the same boat. I’m kinda forceful with it sometimes tho, lol! I just hate hearing that anyone else in pain, especially friends, and desperately want to help. ❤️
I hope the orthotics will help you. Dealing with pain in your feet or legs daily is something that can be so frustrating. Hope you will become able to wear them longer each day very soon. It’s amazing how putting the right shoes on can affect the pain. I have osteoarthritis in both knees and walking can be tremendously painful. Many years ago I got a pair of shoes with inserts and WOW, it was like night and day the minute I put those shoes on and then added the inserts. Magic! It was just amazing. I REALLY need to go get new shoes because it’s been more than 10 yrs ago and he soles are starting to breakdown. lol Gosh, don’t know why! haha
I wish you luck in becoming used to them so they can help.
As far as the pattern, will those of us who purchased the pdf be able to download the newer version? I looked and I bought that one in 2018.
So far so good Vicki. I’m sore but I think they will help immensely. At the very least they will straighten my legs and pelvis. It’s taken so long to be heard, it’s good to be on the right track at last. I’m sorry you are dealing with arthritis pain in your knees, it’s not fun! Laughed at you needing new shoes – only because I’m very loyal to one pair of shoes. When I find a pair I like I wear them constantly; in the garden, to work, out to dinner. I never change them hahahaha. I do clean them though lolz. Take care, toni xx
Ps. yes you’ll be able to download the update with the new “bonus” measurements.
You have the best attitude – know that isn’t always easy. Excited you have something to help – even if it takes time you are heading in the right direction!! Prayers and good thoughts ! Debbib❤
God bless you and keep fighting through this. You will make it.
