My Fave Things + The Kennel Club

Hi y’all, the next instalment of our Thermoweb sew-along is ready to go. You can find it on the sew-along page here. I couldn’t resist adding a red boot to the quilt lol.

This week’s $5 Friday pattern is…The Kennel Club! You can find the digital PDF pattern in our online store here or in our Etsy store if you prefer.

This morning marked the end of an era. We awoke to the news that Queen Elizabeth, affectionately known as “Liz” here in Australia, had died. I like to think that Philip was waiting at the pearly gates, tapping his foot, asking ‘what took you so long’?

The cheeky side of me likes to think that Henry the Eighth greeted her with ‘what, only one husband’? and that Queen Victoria is not speaking to her because she out-reigned her.

The very naughty side of me likes to think Diana was there, arms folded, stern of face, saying ‘we need to talk’. Whatever you think of the Royals there is no doubt that Elizabeth II was a remarkable woman. I think she deserves a well-earned rest don’t you?

Take care, love to all, toni xx

  1. She has been part of my whole life and I already miss her. What a great lady. Yes, I am a senior citizen and can remember when she was crowned and got married. Two very special days.

  2. Thank you for more of your adorable block designs! I’ll say it fur-st (haha get that one? fur?) where are the kitties and their cat tree/perch near a window. Is that too much? LOL

Anyway, I had to give you a laugh. My husband calls me every day on his way to work (and coming home as well) so we talk as he heads toward his job. The drive is an hour long so it keeps him out of trouble, or from falling asleep on the long boring drive on the interstate. When he called this morning, I had left the “kennel club” post up so I could read the last couple of paragraphs about the Queen. I read it to him and he was chuckling but then he laughed a lot when I read the part about Diana. He said the entire thing you wrote was great.

I had CNN on yesterday morning and learned she was not doing well as they had just announced the doctor was just in to see the Queen and announced she was not feeling well and has been told to rest and that she was resting comfortably and was going to remain on bedrest. The way that was said, it made me think it would not be a good day. Then the next thing reported was that Prince Charles (now King of course) was summoned to immediately. It seemed not more than an hour passed, when it was announced the entire family had been told to immediately drop everything and head to the Balmoral. At that point I was sure it was going to be a very sad day.

My Father’s parents were from England and are both gone now. I’m sure they are up there wandering around with their cups of tea looking to say hi to the Queen this morning.
